It was as a maker of Northumbrian Smallpipes that Border Bagpipes first established themselves as a Pipemaker building their first set in 1980.

They went on to send pipes to many International destinations, but it was sumultaneous with developing their Northumbrian Smallpipes that they also continued to develop the Scottish Smallpipes and later the Lowland Pipes and Northumberland Half-Long Pipes.
